Ed Johnson
CEO, G Data Software North America
Ed Johnson, CEO, oversees all aspects of corporate operations in North America.
Prior to joining the company, Johnson was the CIO of LGS Innovations (Bell Labs). He also served as the national award-winning CIO for the North Carolina Department of Justice, where he oversaw the design and development of a ground-breaking Justice Information Sharing Framework. He previously held senior level positions with Cott Beverage, iWork Software and AlliedSignal.
Johnson holds a B.S. degree from Gardner-Webb University, as well as a number of professional distinctions, including Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), various technical and software/hardware certifications, and Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.
David Perry
President, G Data Software North America
David Perry joins G Data software North America as President. David, one of the best respected and best known voices in the world of computer viruses and malicious code, has worked for more than two decades in AV, as a support engineer, manager and director as a product manager and evangelist.
Perry has been a featured speaker at CES, Virus Bulletin, EICAR, RSA, AVAR, , CSI, SANS, FOSE, Infosec London, (also Infosecurity conferences in Utrecht, Stockholm, Helsinki, New York and Moscow) Dubtech in Dubai, and many other technical and trade conferences. He served in the national Y2K center and co chaired a committee meeting in the White House. David has appeared on numerous national and regional television news broadcasts, including the ABC Evening News with Peter Jennings, CBS’s Good Morning America, and NPR All Things Considered. In addition, David has been quoted on the front page of major news publications such as the New York Times and USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine and others too countless to mention, all over the world. He is often looked to as a resource by news agencies such as Reuters and Associated Press.
David is a co-host of the Personal Computer Show on WBAI New York. This is the longest running computer advice and talk show in the USA, and airs every Wednesday night at 8pm. David began his career in the antivirus world with SYMANTEC, where he helped tens of thousands of individuals and corporations to recover from virus and hostile code attacks. David assisted in the development of virus policy and created sample creation methods and protocols still in use today. Later, he worked at McAfee Corporation, managing all online and Web based support. He went on to Cybermedia corporation, where he quickly moved up to a company spokesperson role, appearing in more than 170 television and radio broadcasts in addition to a full schedule of user groups, industry conferences and other personal appearances. From 1989, to 2011 David was with Trend Micro, and served in a variety of roles, most notably as Global Director of Education.
David is an amateur magician, and a member of both the Magic Castle, and the Magic Circle in London.
David Perry lives in Huntington Beach, California with his wife, Margaret.
Dirk Hochstrate
Managing Director, G data Software AG
Dr. Dirk Hochstrate, a member of the management team since 1993 and active Board of Directors Member since 2006, currently serves as CEO of G Data Software AG.
In his prior role as senior product manager, Hochstrate was a key figure in the development of the company’s IT security portfolio. The doctored scientist is internationally renowned as IT security specialist and also serves actively in various research and business committees.
Eddy Willems
Security Evangelist, G Data Software AG
Eddy Willems, security evangelist, works closely with the G Data SecurityLabs team to identify new malware trends, evangelize the importance of secure computing practices, and interpret the complex security world for business and consumer audiences. A founding member of the European Institute for Computer Anti-Virus Research, Willems is also a participant in Joe Wells’ Virus WildList and a member of the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization.
Prior to joining the company, Willems spent more than 20 years in the security software industry, including stints as a security evangelist for Kaspersky Lab and an anti-malware expert at NOXS, a Westcon company.
Willems, who is often cited as an expert source for news organizations worldwide, serves as a regular contributor on the subject area of cyber security for CNN. He also serves as a frequent speaker at global security conferences such as Virus Bulletin, EICAR, AVAR and InfoSec. Willems studied Computer Sciences at IHB and VUB Brussels.
Ralf Benzmüller
Head of G Data SecurityLabs
Ralf Benzmüller has been head of G Data SecurityLabs, based in Germany, for seven years, where he has been responsible for directing all research activities.
Benzmüller, considered by many to be one of the most distinguished experts on malware and cybercrime, is a frequent speaker on the subject of malware research at prestigious universities, as well as conferences across the globe. Additionally, Benzmüller has authored numerous articles identifying and explaining the latest security threats.
